Industrial Maintenance Mechanic
Riverside County

Riverside Milling Company, Inc., an industrial milling operation specializing in ground industrial sand located in Jurupa Valley, CA is seeking an experienced and skilled Maintenance Mechanic to diagnose problems and perform mechanical repair and maintenance of mobile equipment and stationary production machinery.

Specific duties will include:

  • Performs a daily workplace exam of safety hazards and pre-trip safety inspections of mobile equipment, including service trucks, and reports any problems.
  • Conducts routine inspection of all stationary and mobile equipment.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by troubleshooting malfunctions on conveyor systems and production machines by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Performs repair, using welding and cutting torch equipment according to MSHA and AWS safety and performance standards. Safe usage of hand tools, hoists, jacks and pneumatic tools is required.
  • Repairs and maintains stationary equipment, such as conveyor systems, milling and classification equipment, air slides, elevators, drives, engines, motors, pneumatic tools compressors, hydraulic systems, and dust collectors.
  • Repairs and maintains mobile equipment including front-end loader, man lift, sweeper, and forklift.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and uses all senses to listen, see, and feel their sounds, motion, vibration etc. to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts and replaces defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Tracks inventory of replacement parts, supplies and hardware in company’s CMMS.
  • Follows preventative maintenance program for all equipment, performing tasks as and when required, tracking and documenting tasks in the company’s CMMS.
  • Operates mobile equipment, including a fork lift and man-lift.
  • Maintains other required documentation related to maintenance tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Hours of work:
  • Winter hours (Oct 1 - May 21): 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • Summer hours (June 1 - Sep 30): 3:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • Some Saturday and overtime work may be required.
  • Because we are a small operation these hours may be subject to change

Work Demands and Environment:

  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations and all areas within the site which could include heights of 150 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, as needed, including hard hat, hearing protection, eye protection, hard-toed safety shoes or boots, dust mask respirator, protective clothing, gloves and other personal protective equipment. Employee must be clean or closely shaven in order to properly utilize dust mask respirator.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, and mineral particles.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb ladders and stairs, shovel material and work on elevated platforms and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Due to safety concerns, smoking is not allowed anywhere on plant premises.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with some higher education or vocational training specializing in maintenance preferred. At least five years of practical experience in a maintenance field. Experience in milling, cement processing, or similar industry is a strong plus.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and design skills.
  • Ability to repair hydraulics, motors, pumps and gearboxes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Strong welding skills — certification a plus.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and decision making skills.
  • Teamwork, creativity, and problem analysis skills.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in operating mobile equipment is not required but is a plus.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • The selected candidate will be given and must past a pre-employment drug test, physical and background check.
